Tips of Japanese Kanji ~Sushi~

Do you know sushi?
It’s the most famous Japanese food.


Today, it’s about the sushi.


Vinegar is put into the rice for sushi. So it must be a little bit of sour.
“Suppai” is pronounced with the meaning of sour in Japanese.
This “suppai” transformed into “sushi”.


So, why 寿司 can be written in kanji? It’s the alternative way of writing.
However, it does make sense.
“寿(Kotobuki)” expresses the word of delight.
“司(Tukasadoru)” means having a control.
寿司(sushi) is usually eaten when they celebrate something, which the origin of kanji really makes the sense.
